Co-Hosting FAQ: What Utah Car Owners Ask Before They Hand Us the Keys

Driver Valley co-hosts more than 85 cars for Salt Lake City area owners — listing, pricing, guests, cleaning, and payouts, all run from our lot at Park N' Jet by SLC airport. These are the questions owners actually ask before they join, answered the way we answer them in person. The program itself is on our Turo co-hosting services page; the money math is in the co-host earnings guide.

The short version

Questions, answered

Do you cover my car payment?

No — never. Your loan payment, insurance, and registration stay yours, exactly as they would with any car you own. What we do is make the car earn: the goal we manage toward is $1,000–$2,000 per month per car. Any co-host who promises to take over your payment is a red flag, not a partner.

What about insurance while my car is rented?

Your car stays on your own insurance as the owner's car — insurance is one of the ownership costs that stays with you. Trips booked on Turo run under the Turo protection plan selected for the listing. Trips booked directly on drivervalley.com run under our rental agreements, where guests purchase coverage from us or use their own with proof kept on file. It is worth telling your own insurer the car is rented out, and we are happy to explain how the pieces fit before you commit.

Who cleans the car between guests?

We do — every turnaround. Wash, vacuum, fuel, and reset happen at our lot between trips, on the guest's schedule. Cleaning is one of the operating costs paid out of the car's revenue before the split; it is never a separate bill to you.

What happens if a guest damages my car?

Every check-in and check-out gets a photo and video walkthrough, so the car's condition is documented before and after each trip. If something happens, the claim runs through the channel the trip booked on: Turo's claims process for Turo trips, and for direct bookings, our rental agreement with the guest's coverage election and card on file behind it. Any costs show up transparently on your monthly statement — and you never have to chase a guest yourself.

How are guests screened?

On Turo, drivers are verified by Turo and our team reviews every trip request. On direct bookings, guests give us their license details, which we keep on file, and a chargeable card on file is required for every booking — no exceptions. Guests who do not clear the process do not get the keys.

How and when do I get paid?

Monthly. You receive a statement for your car — trips, gross revenue, the operating costs, and your share — with the payout to match. The split: after operating costs, cashflow is 50/50, with our share capped at 30% of gross revenue and a $150/month minimum per car.

What cars qualify for co-hosting?

Cars 2016 or newer, under 70,000 miles, with a clean title. AWD SUVs, crossovers, and minivans are the strongest earners in the Salt Lake City market — ski season especially — but any car that meets the three boxes is worth a conversation.

Where does my car live, and how do guests pick it up?

At our lot at Park N' Jet - Mountain Lot, 2200 W North Temple in Salt Lake City, five minutes from the airport. Guests land, take the free shuttle to the lot, and our team hands over the keys with a photo and video walkthrough. You never meet a guest and never rearrange your day around a pickup.

How do I start?

Tell us about the car on the Driver Valley co-host page or text us at (801) 450-9765 — we are text-first. We will look at the car, show you real numbers for similar cars in the fleet, and walk through the agreement before anything is signed.
