Can You Rent a Car at 19 in Utah?

Yes. At 19, you can rent a car in Utah from Driver Valley. Utah law sets no minimum age for renting a car — the age limits you run into are company policies, and ours is simple: 18 and up, with a valid driver's license, and no young-driver fee. The big brands mostly require renters to be 21 or older, and charge drivers under 25 roughly $19–$27 extra per day. At 19 with us, you pay the same price as everyone else. Find us at Park N' Jet - Mountain Lot, 2200 W North Temple, Salt Lake City.
The age rules, honestly
There is no Utah law that says you must be 21 or 25 to rent a car. Rental age is set by each company's policy. The national chains set theirs at 21+ for most cars and add a young-driver surcharge for renters under 25 — a fee that can add $130–$190 to a one-week rental. Driver Valley set a different policy: 18+ with a full, valid license, and no age-based fee at any age. A learner's permit is not a license and does not qualify — but the day you hold a real license, you can rent.
What you need
- A valid driver's license — any US state or your home country. A learner's permit does not count.
- No credit check. We never pull your credit.
- No credit card required — pay with debit, Cash App, Venmo, Chime, PayPal or credit card. A card stays on file for the booking.
- A flat $50 refundable deposit, returned when the car comes back in the same condition with the same fuel level — waived entirely if you buy the collision damage waiver (CDW).
- 150 miles per day included; daily, weekly (from $350/week) and monthly rentals.
Working with your rental before 21
Many renters under 21 rent to earn. The delivery apps start at 18: DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart and Walmart Spark all let drivers start at 18, so you can deliver food and groceries in a Driver Valley rental. Passenger rideshare is different — Uber and Lyft require drivers to be 21 or older to carry passengers, so under 21 the rental is for delivery and personal use, not rideshare passengers. Two rules always apply: the person driving for the app must be the named renter on the agreement, and coverage purchased on our site covers rental use only — app drivers rely on their own insurance plus the app's coverage.
